Village Chaplain

The Village Chaplaincy program has been a very important aspect of the Village for many years.  this position has been held by various clergy of the Episcopal Diocese since 1977.  In 1999 the Episcopal church, specifically our sponsor church, the Cathedral of St. Paul joined with our neighbor Faith Lutheran Church to offer Chaplain services to our residents.

In 1999, Pastor Charles Wertz was named the new chaplain for Brevillier Village.  His responsibilities include providing three worship services each week for all facilities, visits for new admissions, Bereavement for family members, anointing and prayers for the dying, Bible and scripture reading groups, and visits and conversation.  Reverend Wertz has also provided staff education in the areas of palliative care and aging.

This cooperative ministry between the Episcopal and Lutheran Churches provides an amazing opportunity for the residents of Brevillier Village to maintain and sustain their spiritual identity as well as have a religious presence in their lives while they reside at the Village.

Residents have the ability to partake of communion and worship services as they choose, many with beautiful music provided by dedicated volunteers.

The religious opportunities of the Village also include Sunday Catholic Services with Monsignor Gerald Orbanek and Deacon Chuck Adamczyk.  This is a special gift and one which many residents participate in each Sunday.  Deacon Adamczyk also has a weekly Communion Service.

There is also a variety of other clergy in the Village at various times ministering to their specific congregation members.  We encourage all clergy to visit and can  use the Chapel if they so wish to have services or meetings.  Please contact Tracy Longnecker at 814-899-8600 or tlongnecker@brevillier.org

An annual report of the Chaplain program is available upon request.
